Alu Alkhanov made a call for fighting corruption
Head of Chechnya Alu Alkhanov made a call for fighting corruption, division on clans, negative phenomena affecting the moral mainstays of society. He stated this on Monday delivering an address to the people and parliament of the Chechen Republic, the first one in the republic’s history.

Alkhanov outlined the priority tasks for Chechnya: “the attainment of political stability, maintenance of law and order, social, economic and ecological security”.

At the same time he pointed to “the need to define the basic trends of the economic policy”. He said, “Chechnya has a delayed reaction to economic problems. This is explained by an acute shortage of skilled professionals and the lagging behind of the legislative base.” “The Chechen Republic is a special region, and the quality of the population’s life affects considerably the indexes of the functioning of the entire Southern Federal District,” Alkhanov said.

The head of the republic pointed in his address to the need to “fill the ideological vacuum in the republic with Caucasian traditions and norms for enhancing national awareness of people of the republic.”

“The Chechen Republic is actually being created anew, from scratch, so to say. It is necessary to pass on from the phase of physical survival to that of sustainable development,” the head of the Chechen Republic said.
